Seniors to the Fore!
Seniors were to the fore at the Peter Ross Table Tennis Room at Marine Travel Arena celebrating National Table Tennis Day.
The celebrations for National Table Tennis Day were combined with birthday celebrations for two members to create a real party atmosphere. Liz Adams, whose birthday falls on National Table Tennis Day, was celebrating her 70th birthday and Don Gibson reaching the grand age of 85 and still enjoying his weekly game of social table tennis at Marine.
The table tennis room was open to members, visitors and friends for social table tennis and over 30 people visited on the day, including some who had not played table tennis for a good while. They were actively encourgaed by members present to rediscover the sport, which is truly a sport for all and for all ages.
Club social organiser Colin Mitchell introduced the party and Club President Billy Clayton welcomed all present and led a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday To You for Liz and Don. Some gentle social table tennis for all comers and then some excellent party fayre for all. It really was a great celebration atmosphere centred around the sport for all ages, table tennis.
It just proves, it doesn't matter who you are or what age you are, table tennis is a great sport that can be enjoyed at all levels. And at Bath Street Marine Table Tennis Club all are welcome and there is a great enthusiasm for both social and competitive play.
