Happy Christmas
With Christmas nearly here please remember it is a time for loving, laughing and giving. But we also know the real meaning of Christmas; I am not going to preach to you all but just spare a thought for the true significance of Christmas.
Some may say 2016 has been a strange year; with many celebrities and musicians passing away. At Marine we have also lost members and we have members that have lost loved ones. Perhaps taking, at this special time of the year, a quiet moment to reflect on those we have lost would not go amiss, light a candle for them, say a prayer if you wish, or just remember them.
The Christmas party at Marine was good fun again as it normally is and well organized. There was plenty of food, singing and dancing along with a doubles table tennis tournament which seemed a little pre-arranged shall we say? Even though the organizer Keith Dudley said it wasn't! The winners were on good form and were presented with a prize each which, a short while later, disappeared and somehow found their way into the raffle! Good fun was had by all. Thank you to those who arranged it and took part, you all excelled yourselves and credit goes to you.
People come and go, but Marine continues to thrive and this year we have new members and people playing in the league that have not played before, giving them the experience they need and helping to improve their game. As we all know, we all enjoy a good game of table tennis whether league or social.
So as the year comes to a close I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very “Happy Christmas”; and whatever 2017 has in store for you I also wish you all the best for the coming New Year and beyond. As I have not been able to send a Christmas card to everyone, here is my greeting to you……
