The End?
The 2016/17 table tennis season has just about come to an end. This week was the last round of matches and there are just a couple of postponements to be finalized next week before the season totally ends on the 12 May. It is fair to say it has been a long hard season. But it has also been a season in which the club has tasted some success.
The A Team topped Division 2 and in Division 4 the E Team achieved a league and cup double. We have also welcomed new league players to the club and have seen our own juniors taste success in the L&DTTL Junior Development Division where they too achieved a league and cup double. We have also watched our juniors progress and start to achieve some success in the main league.
So, the season may have been long but it has also been enjoyable. Even for our two teams in Division 5, who have struggled on the table but have always maintained a true welcoming spirit of table tennis wherever they have played. The final match of the season for our club teams will be in the Final of the L&DTTL Frank Murphy Handicap Cup to be played on Wednesday 10 May at Wavertree Labour. We wish them all the very best.
A full review of the 2016/17 season will appear in the Club Magazine which will be published on this site at the end of May once all the business of the year is completed.
In the meantime I wish you all a happy summer, and look forward to welcoming you back in September. Play will continue at Marine throughout the summer, and you can also come along to 'Pay & Play' at Anfield Sports & Social Centre, Lower Breck Road, Liverpool on a Monday evening from 7pm where there are 10 tables for a great evening of fun play.
