What are you looking for?

It's been a while since writing here!

Permit me to ask you, 'what are you looking for this Christmas?' My Christmas card to you all reminded me of the story of the three Kings and two Christmas carols! One carol says, "They all were looking for a King", another, probably more well known, includes the line, "King forever, ceasing never". These two phrases caused me also to think about our table tennis club!

2024 has been a strange year, and particularly so since the start of the 2024/25 table tennis season. To say that things haven't been going so well on the league front this year would be a slight understatement. And then on top of that the news broke that in the New Year the Club Secretary is moving home, and returning to the south of England! Now, no-one is saying that a club secretary is like a king! But the fact is that in human terms nothing is forever - so the king forever, ceasing never, certainly doesn't apply. The truth is though, that the club is looking for a new 'king' - or rather a new secretary! Maybe someone reading this will know just the person who might be able to step up and assist in running the administration of our great club? If so, please speak to the Chairman.

Apart from that what are you looking for this Christmas? Perhaps just something small, a well thought out gift or a card, being with family, or maybe something on a grand scale, like world peace! We certainly need it!

The three Kings saw a star and followed it and it led them to exactly what they were looking for.

We have a great table tennis club and we are looking for it to continue and flourish. We have already faced up to and overcome a number of challenges, like when we lost our old home, but looked forward and came out with the fabulous premises we have now. We have faced the change from a private members club to a new community interest company which took over all the operations of the club from 1 August 2024. We have faced the challenges of teething problems with the building - and most have been overcome, due to the vigilant management and attention of our dedicated volunteers. And, we will face the challenges of the 2024/25 table tennis season - and aim to overcome those too!

Whatever you are looking for this Christmas, I would like to wish you the very best for this 2024 Christmastime, may you have a peaceful, blessed and happy Christmas with those who are nearest and dearest to you. My Christmas card to you all is below. And I am looking forward to catching up with many of you in the New Year.
